HARRY POTTER AND THE Half Ass Acting
July 21, 2009
Went and seen the new potter Last weekend *Read: Day of doom and Destruction…my birthday* And while I am not the biggest Potter fan, I have enjoyed most of the books.
However I have to say this movie was lacking in some of the aspects that I have come to enjoy in the Potter movies. I realize that the Half Blood Prince Book was about the development of the personal relationships in the Potter universe, but it didn’t translate that well to the big screen, Bonny Wright who plays Ginny Weasley seems a bit stiff and I didn’t feel the chemistry between her and David Radcliffe.
The love triangle between Ron, Hermione, and Lavender was slightly amusing, however I have never been very impressed with Rupert Grint’s performance as Ron.
Although I did find Helena Bonham Carter amazing, but I’ve had a crush on her for years so I might be a bit biased
I am by no means a movie critic, but I do know what I like, I am really looking forward to seeing GI JOE though, I haven’t heard the greatest things about it, but then again just like Transformers it’s a Live action Movie based off of a 1980′s Cartoon that was a 30 minute toy commercial. I will love it for what it is.

Part of the problem is for the film makers to cram 600 plus pages into an almost 2 hour movie. I too, felt it lacked a lot. However, my husband who has not read the books, enjoy the movie and could follow the plot.
I reread the book prior to seeing the movie and some of the changes did bother me, but then I realize that often in order for a book to translate well to the screen, you either have to add or subtract something for a smooth flow.
I was disappointed by the final scene where Dubbledore in the book stuns Harry and has his cloak over him so he could witness. They did capture the angst of Draco and gave a hint that Snape and Dubbledore had some arrangement.
Have you watched True Blood? I went ahead and listened to the audio books. The story is very different than the Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. Again, I’m enjoying the diversity in the story – especially making Tara a more important character and not killing Layfette off. I’m looking forward to Eric having his turn with Sookie. I find Eric to be a lot more interesting than Bill.
Well, back on me head, I have parts of Thursday’s sketched out, but still have a lot to do.
