Welcome to the Second installment of Tears & Pain *Retro* a Weekly look back at some of my favorite *and least favorite* strips from Tears & Pain’s history, think of it as the Commentary on a DVD
Today You are looking at the Defining strip in the comic that marked the change of Tears & pain from a Comedy/Gag to a Dramedy.
When I first started out Tears & Pain, I had planned on it being a Fantasy Gag strip. Somewhere along the line, pretty much with this comic, I decided I wanted to go more in a Dramatic path with it. I still have elements in it that are Funny(At least to me they are
). But I wanted the story to be a bit darker, and more in tune with the imaginings I had of Etherian, the War and of course the characters.
I was really struggling with my art at this time *still am* and tried unsuccessfully to make the art style a little bit darker in the following strips. This led of course to utter frustration, and the eventual hiatus and new artist phase, I am now happy to say I have accepted I have a long way to go still on my art, and coloring and such and that is OK with me, I see it as an evolution and I hope you all like it.
Thanks for tuning in to another *Retro* Tears & Pain, and I look forward to hearing any comments you might have.
Good Travels,
Thorne
